Jarra East
Jarra East is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative divisions - the West African nation of Gambia. It is one of six districts in the Lower River Region.
According to a calculation by 2013 there live about 13.010 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 12,505.
The name is derived from Jarra, a former small kingdom.

Population
According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest population group, the Mandinka with a share of about seven -tenths, followed by the Fula and the Serahule. The distribution in detail: 66.5 % Mandinka, Fula 27.5 %, 1% Wolof, Jola 0.4 %, 2.8% Serahule, 0.1% Serer, Aku 0.1 %, 0.1% Manjago, 0.2% Bambara and 1.3% other ethnicities.
