Jean Cugnot

Jean Cugnot ( born August 3, 1899 in Paris, † June 25, 1933 in Vincennes ) was a French racing cyclist and Olympic champion.

1923 Cugnot Jean won the Sprint Tournament Grand Prix de Paris in the amateurs, the following year he took second place in this race and the Grand Prix de l' UVF third place. In 1924, he competed in two disciplines at the Olympic Games in Paris. In tandem race he won jointly with Lucien Choury the gold medal in the sprint bronze.

Then Cugnot was professional and launched among others at 13 six-day races. On June 23, 1933 Jean Cugnot crashed in a race at the Vélodrome de Vincennes hard and died a few days later as the result of a skull fracture. His death was the occasion for the French Cycling Federation Vélocipédique Union Française (UVF ) for train driver from August 1, 1933 and for road riders from January 1, 1934 to introduce the fall cap duty.
