Ian Browne (cyclist)

Ian Browne launched in 1956 as a local hero at the Olympic Games in Melbourne and won together with Tony Marchant gold medal in the tandem race. Four years later, at the Games in Rome, he took on the tandem with Geoffrey Smith in ninth place. On his third Olympic start, in Tokyo in 1964, he remained in the same discipline unplaced. Also at Commonwealth Games Browne was successful in 1958 in Cardiff he won the race more than ten miles and 1962 he was in Perth third in the sprint. He also won several Australian titles in various railway disciplines.

2010 Ian Browne was recorded with Tony Marchant in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
