Jeff Parker (musician)

Jeff Parker ( born April 4, 1967 in Bridgeport, Connecticut ) is a guitarist in the area of free jazz, improvised music and post-rock.

Parker studied at the Berklee College of Music before moving to Chicago in 1991. There he became a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians ( AACM ). He worked in the following years in the Chicago Underground Orchestra and the Exploding Star Orchestra and with Jeb Bishop, Ken Vandermark, Scott Amendola and the instrumental band Tortoise, Isotope 217 and Tricolor. 1998 elected him the Kritikerpoll the downbeat to the Talent Deserving Wider Recognition. In 2003 he presented his debut album Like - coping ( Delmark ), which he recorded with bassist Chris Lopes and drummer Chad Taylor. Followed in 2004, the solo album The Relatives.
