Scott Fields

Scott Fields ( born September 30, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois ) is an American musician ( guitarist, composer ) of the Creative jazz and improvised music.

Biography

Fields began his musical career as a self-taught rock musician in Chicago, then dealt but under the influence of musicians from the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians and jazz. Later, he studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, composition and music theory. 1970 Fields was co-founder of the avant-garde jazz trio Life Rhythms. After the dissolution of the formation after two years he withdrew temporarily from the music scene back then worked in Madison (Wisconsin ) again as a musician and then was taken up in the 1990s albums for the label Music & Arts, Cadence and Delmark. On his album 48 Motives Marilyn Crispell and Joseph Jarman participated as guest musician. As a composer, Fields made ​​a name with titles like 48 Motives and 96 Gestures.

Throughout his career, Fields also worked with musicians such as Hamid Drake, Jan Klare, Guerino Mazzola, Myra Melford, Larry Ochs, Jeff Parker Matthias Schubert and Elliott Sharp. He currently lives in Cologne and forms a trio with Achim Tang and Paul Lytton and the string Feartet. He is a member of the Multiple Joy [ ce] Orchestra.
