Jens Knippschild

Jens Knippschild (born 15 February 1975 Arolsen ) is a former German tennis player.

Life

Knippschild won in his career two ATP tournaments in doubles, in 2001 the Swedish Open together with Karsten Braasch, and in 2002 the Romanian Open with Peter Nyborg. His highest world ranking position he reached in 1999 with rank 76 The following year, he reached the final of the ATP tournament in Newport his best individual result on the ATP World Tour. On the ATP Challenger Tour, he was able to win five individual titles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round of the French Open in 1998. In the doubles competition, he reached the quarterfinals of the French Open in 1997, and in each case once the knockout stages of the other three Grand Slam tournaments.

Knippschild was appointed twice to the German Davis Cup team in 1997 and 2001. During his first deployment in the Erstrundenbegegnung against Mexico, he won both his singles and the doubles with Marc -Kevin Goellner of. In the quarter- final against the Netherlands he was defeated by David Prinosil in double against Sjeng Schalken and Paul Haarhuis.
