Jericho is the first new release of the Canadian folk and country - rock group The Band since its dissolution in the late 1970s. The album was released on November 2, 1993 Pyramid Records, a sub-label of Rhino. From the founding members of the band only Rick Danko, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson are left, apart from producer John Simon, who had already produced the first albums of the group. Robbie Robertson decided not to attend the reunion, while Richard Manuel had already committed suicide in 1986. Were replaced by the two musicians guitarist Jim Weider, Randy Ciarlante drummer and keyboardist Richard Bell. In addition, can be heard on the album fourteen guest musicians.

Jericho almost exclusively contained cover versions of songs by other artists, which can be explained primarily by the fact that the band had lost its main songwriter Robertson. Only at Remedy, The Caves of Jericho and Move to Japan, there were compositions by band members. Also, on the album an older recording, Country Boy, was included on the Richard Manuel still permitting.

In the U.S. Billboard album charts Jericho reached number 166 by the critics, the album was mostly well received, but was unable to repeat earlier successes in this regard.

On the cover of the album the pink house is depicted in Saugerties, New York, where the band at that time by recorded under the name " The Hawks ", along with Bob Dylan, among others, The Basement Tapes, and after also released their debut album Music from Big Pink is named.
