Jesse Wallin

Jesse Wallin ( born March 10, 1978 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who was active during his active career, among other things for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League. Since 2008 he has been head coach of the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League.

Career

Jesse Wallin first played from 1993 to 1994 for the North Battleford North Stars in a unterklassigen Junior League in Saskatchewan. Following the defender spent four seasons with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. During this time the defender NHL Entry Draft in 1996 was selected in the first round at a total of 26 position of the Detroit Red Wings. In the Red Deer Rebels, he had his best season point with 39 points in 59 games of the regular season in the 1996/97 season. 1997 and 1998, Wallin was awarded for outstanding humanitarian behavior with the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy; In 1997 he also won the award as the CHL Humanitarian of the Year. This he did not score the winning team of the Red Wings, who won the Stanley Cup at end of season. He spent the subsequent season for the first time in his career completely in the NHL squad. His contract was not renewed in Detroit in the summer of 2003, so he was available as a free agent. End of July 2003 he accepted a contract offer from the Calgary Flames. Internationally

For the Canadian national Wallin took part in the Junior World Championships in 1997 and 1998. After he had been in 1997 with the Team Canada in seven games on the ice and won the gold medal, the defender was active as team captain a year later. The tournament ended the Canadians on a disappointing eighth place.
