Jeżewo, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Jeżewo ( German Good Jeesau or Jeesau ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia and Mazury, Gmina Kętrzyn.

Geography

The village is about 25 kilometers south of the state border of Poland to Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. The center Kętrzyns is about six kilometers to the east.

History

When today's Jeżewo was created exactly is not known. In the 15th century the name is preserved as Gesaw, where the meaning of Old Prussian " sailed " is expected to decline herons, however, is not linguistically sufficiently clarified. In the 16th century it was mentioned that the village heard of the Gröbenow. 1785 17 houses are counted in the settlement, in 1817 there are only 10, where 122 people live. On September 30, 1928, the Gutsbezirk Jeesau together with the Gutsbezirk Bannaskeim and the Heinrich farms in the district Jeesau for rural community Bannaskeim was summarized. In January 1945, the Red Army marched into the area and thus also in Jeesau. As a result, the village became part of Poland. 1970 were registered 138 inhabitants, which was a library item available. Furthermore, there was a four-year primary school in the village.

1973, after the dissolution of the Gromadas, the village became part of the Schulz Office Gromki.

About a kilometer north of the Province Jeżewo road 592 runs over this can be achieved in an easterly direction after about six kilometers Kętrzyn and west Bartoszyce.

The nearest railway station is in Kętrzyn.

The nearest international airport is the Kaliningrad airport about 100 kilometers north of Jeżewo on Russian territory. About 190 kilometers to the west lies the Lech Walesa Airport Gdansk, which is the nearest international airport on the territory of Poland. The airport Szczytno - Szymany is located about 65 kilometers south of Jeżewo. There, since 2006, there is no public flight operations more.
