Jill Craybas

Jill Craybas ( born July 4, 1974 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is a former American tennis player.

Career

In 1997 she played her first WTA tournament. With a wild card, she participated in the U.S. Open. The following year, she won her first ITF title in Nuevo Lareda. In 2001 she played in April among the top 100 in the world and participated in all the Grand Slam tournaments. In 2002, she came at the Australian Open in the second round after her opponent Mary Pierce had to give up in round one. In September, she won her first title in Tokyo on the WTA Tour, although she had set back in the final against Silvija Talaja in the third set already with 0:4.

2004 reached Craybas in Miami at the biggest event after the Grand Slam tournaments, the quarter-finals. At Wimbledon, she defeated Serena Williams in 2005 with 6:3, 7:6 and reached for the first time the quarter-finals. The following year she beat Kim Clijsters in Miami and reached position 39, its best ranking in singles. In 2008, she reached the final in Pattaya, they lost despite a match against Agnieszka Radwańska Balls.

On August 24, 2013 Craybas announced her departure. Their last match they played on 30 August 2013 in the U.S. Open.
