Jimmy Ball

Allan James "Jimmy" Ball ( born May 7, 1903 in Dauphin, Manitoba, † July 2, 1988 in Victoria, British Columbia) was a Canadian athlete who in 1930 was successful over the years. The 400m specialist participated in two Olympic Games.

He studied pharmacy at the University of Manitoba.

He was inducted in 1980 into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

He was 1.80m tall and weighed 69 kg in his playing days.

Career

His first sporting success had Jimmy Ball in 1925, when he two regional championship - from Manitoba and western Canada - won. Two years later he won the Dominion Championships at both 440 y and with the Western Canadian squadron.

  • At the games in Amsterdam in 1928, the Canadian team that took as the final runner in the occupation of Alex Wilson, Phil Edwards, Stanley Glover and ball won in 3:15,4 min bronze behind the United States ( gold in a world record time of 3:14 2 min) and Germany ( silver in 3:14,8 minutes).

With this success, Ball ended his international career.
