Jimmy Davies

Jimmy Davies ( born August 18, 1929 in Glendale, † June 11, 1966 in Chicago) was an American race car driver.

Career

Jimmy Davies was in the 1950s, the second rider to have three USAC National Midget Championships - win. In 1949, he became the youngest winner of a U.S. single-seater race when he won the 100 -mile Midget race at Del Mar at the age of almost 20 years - a record that was broken only in 2006 by Marco Andretti. As Troy Ruttman and Jim Rathmann Davies falsified his birth certificate in order to participate in the race at all.

Davies went almost exclusively Midget race and won in his career at 46 race events. 1962 his race car it was stolen after a race in Indianapolis. A year later, the vehicle reappeared - in a race in Sacramento, the car was driven to scrap - as Davies based on recognized him from pictures in a local newspaper.
