Joe McElderry

Joe McElderry (born 16 June 1991) is a British pop singer. In his home country he is best known for winning the sixth season of the talent show The X Factor, which aired from August to December 2009 at the evening program of the TV channel ITV.

Unlike the four X -Factor winner before, he did not reach the coveted position of Christmas number one in the UK with his debut single. An anti -X Factor campaign managed to bring the song Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine before him to the top. However, he reached then the following week still # 1 on the UK charts.

In July 2010, he announced that he was gay, and thanked his fans and his family for their support.

In October 2010, he released his first studio album entitled Wide Awake. The first single Ambitions, a cover version of the hit of the Norwegian band Donkeyboy, reached No. 6 of the UK Top 40
