Johanan ben Baroka

R. Yochanan ben Beroka (also: Yochanan ben Beroqa, ie from Bene Brak, sometimes to read translation Johanan son of Beroka is wrong) was a Jewish scholar of antiquity, lived and worked in the second century AD and is the so-called second generation of Tannaim counted.

He was a student of Yehoshua ben Hananiah, friend of Rabbi Eleazar Chisma and father of Rabbi Ishmael.

He dealt mainly with the family and especially the law of succession.

His often quoted in the Baraita son, Ishmael ben Yochanan ben Beroka has deepened and expanded the Halachot his father.
