John Chalmers (orthopaedic surgeon)

John Chalmers ( born September 21, 1927 in Aberdeen) is a Scottish orthopedic surgeon.

Life

Chalmers studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. After graduation (MB ChB ) and two years as a house officer, he began in 1952, the surgical training in the medical corps of the British Army ( RAMC ). In 1953 he passed the exams elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. From 1954 to 1957 he underwent orthopedic training in Oxford and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London. After a Orthopaedic Fellowship at the University of Illinois from 1958 to 1961 he was Lecturer in Edinburgh. In 1961, he graduated to the MD. 1963, he was also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh

As a lecturer and consultant senior he remained until 1990, over 32 years at the Royal Infirmary and the Princess Margaret Rose Orthopaedic Hospital. After retirement, he ran until 1997, a private practice and taught in the third world countries. He is considered the " orthopedic surgeon for orthopedic surgeons ."

Private

With his wife Gwyneth he has four children and six grandchildren. One of my sons is interventional radiologist, the other lawyer, a subsidiary general practitioner in New Zealand, the other tax advisor.

Over 50 years he devoted himself to beekeeping.
