John Scott (Scottish politician)

John Scott ( born June 7, 1951 in Girvan ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

Life

Fergusson visited the Barrhill Primary School, George Watson 's College in Edinburgh and completed his engineering studies at the University of Edinburgh. Since then, Scott has been working in the family farm. He is the founder of the Ayrshire farmer's market as well as founder and chairman of the Scottish Association of Farmers Markets.

Political career

For the first time Scott joined the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 to national elections. However, in his constituency Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, he received only the third highest number of votes and thus missed the direct mandate of the constituency. As the elected Labour MP for the constituency of Ayr, Ian Welsh, returned from his position in December 1999, elections were necessary in this constituency. These candidate Scott for the Conservatives and won the direct mandate of the constituency with a clear lead over the SNP candidate Jim Mather. As a result, Scott moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament. By 2001, he was then first deputy party spokesman on transport and the environment, then party spokesman for the Environment. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007, he defended his position. In the shadow cabinet of the Conservatives, he was assigned as Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment. In the parliamentary elections 2011 Scott defended his position just before the SNP candidate Chic Brodie. In the newly formed Cabinet Scott was elected Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
