José Javier Hombrados Ibáñez ( born April 7, 1972 in Madrid, Spain ) is a Spanish handball player. He is 1.97 m tall and weighs 98 kg.

Hombrados, who last played for the German club HSG Wetzlar and accrued for the Spanish national team, always plays as a goalkeeper.

Career

Association

José Hombrados started at BM Safa with the handball game. His first league game in the Spanish league ASOBAL he played for Atlético Madrid, where he first moved into the final of the Copa del Rey de Balonmano 1991. In 1993 he went to CB Cantabria Santander. Here he won the Spanish Cup in 1994 and the EHF Champions League, Copa del Rey in 1995 and 1998, the Copa de Balonmano ASOBAL. After a short intermezzo with SD Teucro he moved in early 1999 to Ademar León, where he again the Copa ASOBAL and the European Cup Winners' Cup won in 1999. In 2000 he was hired by SDC San Antonio, where she won the 2001 EHF Champions League, the Club Championship and the Copa del Rey de Balonmano and in 2002 the Spanish championship.

In 2002 he moved to BM Ciudad Real, where he played until 2011. Here he won the 2003 European Cup Winners' Cup and the Copa del Rey de Balonmano, 2004, the Spanish Cup and the Copa ASOBAL, 2005, the Copa ASOBAL and the Spanish Super Cup, 2006, the EHF Champions League, the Club Championship and the Copa ASOBAL and 2007, the Spanish Cup, Copa ASOBAL and the association Championship. Followed in 2008 by the Spanish Cup, the Spanish Cup, the Spanish Supercup, the Copa ASOBAL and the EHF Champions League. In 2009 he again won the Spanish Cup and the EHF Champions League. 2010 was added another Spanish title. 2011-2013 he guarded the gate of BM Atlético de Madrid, who took over the league license of BM Ciudad Real. On the Super Globe 2013 he played for the Qatari club Al Sadd Qatari. Then he signed a contract with German Bundesliga HSG Wetzlar to represent there for a few weeks Magnus Dahl.

Hombrados is the only goalkeeper who has won with three different teams, the EHF Champions League.

National

José Hombrados has denied to December 2011 241 caps for the Spanish national team and has achieved a goal. He won each bronze at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, silver at the European Championships in 1996 and 2006, and gold at the World Cup 2005. During the 2007 World Cup in Germany, he retired with Spain in the quarter- final against Germany from and finished only seventh place. At the 2011 World Championships, he won the bronze medal with the Spanish team.
