Joseph M. Schenck

Joseph Michael Schenck, Russian Джозеф Майкл Шенк (. * 13 Dezemberjul / December 25 1878greg in Rybinsk, Russian Empire, . † 22 October 1961, in Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American film producer and different as a manager film company involved in the development of the American film industry.

Life

From 1916 to 1934 Schenck was married to silent film actress Norma Talmadge. He produced her own films and was even after the divorce their financial advisor. After the founding of United Artists in 1919, Schenck was from 1925, the second president of the company. For the composition of the executive chair of film distribution spoke not only his business knowledge of the film industry, but also the contacts with his sister Natalie Talmadge and her husband Buster Keaton.

In 1934 he founded together with Darryl F. Zanuck, the 20th Century Pictures, which their films through United Artists. 1935 merged their business with the Fox Film Corporation for 20th Century Fox, whose first president was Schenck. Joseph Schenck's brother Nicholas was CEO of Loew's, Inc., the parent company of Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer.
