Julia Lezhneva

Yulia Mikhailovna Leschnewa (Russian Юлия Михайловна Лежнева, also: Julia Lezhneva; born December 5, 1989 in Yuzhno -Sakhalinsk ) is a Russian soprano.

Life and work

Julija Leschnewa is the daughter of two geophysicists. Early age of 16, she participated in a singing competition of Russian opera diva Elena Obraztsova, who advised her to sing Rossini. Leschnewa studied singing at the Moscow Conservatory, at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice and at London's Royal College of Music. The artist attended master classes among others Yelena Obraztsova Wassiljewna, Yvonne Kenny, Alberto Zedda and Thomas Quasthoff. A decisive influence on her vocal training had Giovanni Antonini. Her international breakthrough came in 2010 under Marc Minkowski at the Salzburg Music Week. Shortly thereafter Leschewa debuted at the Salzburg Festival. On the 1st Sunday of Advent 2013, it sang alongside Joyce DiDonato and Klaus Florian Vogt in the Dresden Frauenkirche.
