Julie Moss

Julie Moss ( * October 15, 1958 ) is a former American triathlete.

Career

She became famous when she in Hawaii in leadership collapsed in 1982 in the Ironman Competition lying close to the finish dehydrated and on all fours as runner-up behind Kathleen McCartney finally crossed the finish line. This scene was broadcast live around the world and has inspired many athletes to participate in the Ironman competition, among them her future husband Mark Allen. Julie Moss and Mark Allen were married but are now divorced.

After her 2nd place at the Triathlon International de Nice in September 1984, the unofficial triathlon Professional World Championship over 4 km swimming, 120 km cycling and 30 km running in Nice, behind her teammate Colleen Cannon Julie Moss became a week later held Cologne Triathlon, the Cup de Cologne Triathlon short invited on Fühlinger lake, they could also end victorious. So Julie Moss was 1984, the first American triathlete who participated in a triathlon in Germany and was able to win this.

In 1994, she was inducted into the Ironman Hall of Fame.
