Justin J. McCarthy

Justin Joseph McCarthy ( * November 26, 1900 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, USA, † December 26, 1959 in Elizabeth, New Jersey) was Bishop of Camden.

Life

Justin Joseph McCarthy attended St. Mary of the Assumption School. McCarthy studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He received on 16 April 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On March 27, 1954, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Titular Bishop of Doberus and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Newark. The Archbishop of Newark, Thomas Aloysius Boland, donated to him on 11 June of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Paterson, James Aloysius McNulty, and the Bishop of Camden, Joseph Bartholomew Eustace. On January 27, 1957, he was named Pius XII. Bishop of Camden.
