JYP- Akatemia is established in 1974 as Lohi Jyväskylä Finnish professional ice hockey club from Jyväskylä. The first team plays in the Mestis and wearing their home games at the Synergia areena from.

History

The club was founded in 1974 as Jyväskylä Lohi and called discos since 1993 Jyväskylä. The team took first in the 1995/96 season at the I- divisioona, the then second highest Finnish league, in part, but got off in the first season. In the following season the team managed the immediate resurgence. As of the 2000 /01 season, the team participated in the new second division, the Mestis, in part. From this the team was relegated in the 2001/ 02 season from the third class Suomi- sarja. 2004, the club was renamed D- Kiekko. Only in the 2007/ 08 season the team succeeded as third league champions return to the Mestis, in which it has established itself since then. Connected with the rise was renamed the D- Team.

The association works closely with since 2008 the big city neighbors JYP Jyvaskyla of the SM- liiga together and acts as the farm team. Since 2011, ie the first team in line with the SM- liiga team therefore JYP- Akatemia, while the second team and junior level continues to stand as discos Jyväskylä.
