Region

Karguibangou (also: Kargui Bangou ) is a rural municipality in the department of Dosso in Niger.

Geography

Karguibangou lies in the large landscape Sudan. The neighboring municipalities are Goroubankassam the northwest, Tombokoirey I and II Tombokoirey in the north, Guéchémé in the northeast, Caracara in the east, in the southeast Zabori, Dioundiou in the south and Tessa in the West. The municipality is divided into 64 administrative villages, 21 traditional villages, hamlets and two 23 stock. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Karguibangou (also: Kargui Bangou, Deytégui Hassane ).

History

The rural community Karguibangou left in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Dosso forth. In June 2008, floods destroyed 14 houses and 79 huts in the village, nearly 1000 people were considered damaged.

Population

At the 2001 census Karguibangou had 35 677 inhabitants. For the year 2010 47.725 inhabitants were calculated. The population is made up of Zarma, Hausa and Fulani.

Economy and infrastructure

The population lives mainly from agriculture. Crops are millet, sorghum, cowpeas, Bambara groundnuts and fonio and green salad and cabbage. The agriculture is affected by soil erosion. In Karguibangou there are 32 primary schools and one middle school as well as a major for cross -border trade market. Karguibangou is located on the National Road 1, which here is part of the international highway Dakar - N'Djamena - Highway, and on the National Road 3, which leads to Koré Maïroua.
