Kazuya Oshima

Kazuya Oshima (Japanese大 嶋 和 也, Kazuya Oshima, born April 30, 1987 in Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese racing driver. In 2006 he was Japanese Formula 3 champion. From 2009 to 2011, he competed in the Formula Nippon.

Career

Oshima began his formula racing career in 2004 in the Japanese Formula Toyota. After he had already won in his first season, the runner-up title, he secured a year later the champion of the series. In 2006, Oshima for Toyota Team TOM'S and went to the Japanese Formula 3 Championship at the start. After he had in his debut season, won the runner-up title behind Adrian Sutil, he took a year later with six wins himself the champion of the Japanese Formula 3 He also won along with Hiroaki Ishiura the champion of the GT300 class of the Super GT, a Japanese GT series. At the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 2007 he was the third on the podium.

2008 Ōshima left Japan and moved to Europe. For Manor Motorsport, he raced in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Although in contrast to his three teammates, he won a race, he finished at the end of the season just 19th overall and was thus the lowest-ranked pilot his team. He also completed a race again in the Super GT.

2009 Ōshima returned back to Japan and went for TOM 'S in Formula Nippon at the start. With a second place as best result, he finished the season in ninth place overall. He also competed in the Super GT and was ninth with a win in the championship. 2010 remained Ōshima at TOM 'S in Formula Nippon. In Sports Land SUGO, he decided his first race for themselves. He finished the season in sixth place on the overall standings. In the Super GT he was also sixth. 2011 moved Ōshima within the Formula Nippon team for LeMans. With a second place as best result he finished the season in fifth place overall. In the Super GT he finished in eleventh place in this year.
