Keisei Electric Railway

The Keisei Dentetsu K. K. (. jap.京 成 电 鉄 株式会社, Keisei Dentetsu kabushiki - gaisha, in short. Keisei; engl Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. ), listed on the Nikkei 225, ISIN JP3278600006, is a private railway company in Chiba Prefecture and Tokyo, Japan. Keisei is represented in the Nikkei index.

The name is composed of the characters " kyō " from the word Tōkyō and " nari " from Narita together ( which will then be read but otherwise), and thus symbolizes the Keisei Main Line, which connects Tokyo and Narita. Other important railway stations in the route network are located in Funabashi, Narashino, Yachiyo, and Sakura. Keisei operates the Keisei Skyliner next to the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) is the second important line to Narita Airport.

In addition to the rail transport as a core business Keisei is also active in bus and taxi industry. Another mainstay is to act as developers. Keisei is one of the main shareholders in the commercially highly successful Oriental Land Company, which operates the Tokyo Disney Resort.

History

Keisei was founded in 1909 as a suburban line in the east of Tokyo (first sections were Oshiaga - Edogawa and Takasago Shibamata ). Gradually, the network was expanded to major interchange station Ueno (1930 ) and Chiba to Narita ( 1933).

1959 was changed from 1,372 m to 1,435 gauge to connect the rail network in the following year directly to the Toei Asakusa Line and Keikyu Line. By sharing the rail tracks for passengers to get to the airport Haneda to change trains to the city center and the Airport Express.

The Skyliner runs since 1978 to Narita Airport. First, the route led to the present station Higashi- Narita, and 1992, a common route with JR East has been completed to the two terminals.
