Ken Boothe

Ken Boothe ( born March 22, 1948 in Kingston, Jamaica ) is a Jamaican ska and reggae singer and songwriter.

Biography

The career of Ken Boothe began with the Caribbean music producer Clement " Coxsone " Dodd, by means of which he recorded a cover version of the song Puppet on a String by Sandie Shaw in 1967. In the same year he and Alton Ellis toured with the band The Soul Vendors successfully by the United Kingdom.

After he separated from Coxsone, he worked with the producer Leslie Kong and Keith Hudson. He founded the band Conscious Minds with BB Seaton and the musician became famous in the 1970s because of its success as Mr. Rock Steady. His first big success represented the single Everything I Own, with which he reached in 1974 number 1 in the UK charts. This success was achieved in collaboration with producer Lloyd Chalmers.
