Kendice
Kendice ( until 1927 slovak also " Kendzice "; Hungarian Kende ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1830 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Prešov, Prešov Region of a circle.
Geography
The municipality is located in the valley Košická kotlina on a meander of the Torysa, between the cities of Prešov (8 km north) and Košice (28 km south). The center is located at an altitude of 236 m nm
History
A permanent settlement of the current municipal area goes back to the Neolithic period. The town itself was first mentioned in 1249 as Kendy writing and was in the Middle Ages, a simple village, the different genders as well as the castle was under saddle Rosh. From the 15th until the 17th century the village was split on a large and a small part. 1828 are 98 houses and 704 inhabitants recorded, farmers and grain and livestock traders were a majority.
