Hermanovce

Hermanovce (Hungarian Sztankahermány - to 1888 Hermany ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1863 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Prešov, Prešov Region of a circle.

Geography

The municipality is located in the western part of the highlands highlands Šarišská the creek Hermanka. The center is located at an altitude of 465 m nm and is nine kilometers from Sabinov and 20 km from Prešov away.

History

Hermanovce was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1320 as a villa hermani superior et inferior, after it had been founded around 1300. The division into an upper and lower part is due to a division between the sons of the former country gentleman Svinia, one of whose estate the place. In 1427 there were in the village against 50 subject - families. Only in the 18th century it came to the reunion of separated by the creek Hermanka places. 1828 are listed 88 houses and 656 inhabitants.

The name comes from the name of a Schultheißes, the founder of the town, whose name was Hermann.
