Kenneth Lonergan

Kenneth Lonergan ( born October 16, 1962 in New York City, New York) is an American screenwriter and film director.

Life

Lonergan began writing with the already during his school years in the private Walden School. He studied at New York University and after graduating worked as a speechwriter for the Environmental Protection Agency. His film career began in 1999 with the script for the comedy film Analyze This with Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal in the lead roles. The film was a commercial success and so Lonergan received after the order to write the screenplay for The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle.

In the same year Lonergan directed her first. After his own script with the production of Martin Scorsese was the drama film You Can Count on Me, the film was a huge success and earned him numerous film awards and nominations for a Golden Globe and an Oscar one. In 2002, he reunited with Scorsese and wrote the screenplay for the film Gangs of New York, for which he received his second Oscar nomination.

In 2005, the filming began for his second directorial effort, Margaret. The film, starring Anna Paquin, Matt Damon and Matthew Broderick was overshadowed by a court dispute and was not published until 2011.
