Kenny Swain

Kenneth "Kenny" Swain ( born January 28, 1952 in Birkenhead, England ) is a former English footballer and is currently employed as an instructor of English U-16 national football team. His greatest success as a player, he celebrated with Aston Villa, with whom in 1981 he won the British Championship and the following year 1981/82 won the title in European Champions Cup against FC Bayern Munich.

Playing career

Chelsea FC

Kenny Swain began his playing career in 1973/74 at Chelsea in the English Football League First Division. Only after the relegation of his club from the Football League First Division 1974/75, he was able to establish itself in the root formation of his team. In the 1976/77 season he celebrated the return of Chelsea in the Premier League and crowned this success followed by the Klass receipt in the First Division. The season in the Football League First Division 1978/79, was for the worse, because Chelsea rose again from the Second Division. Kenny Swain changed already during the season in December 1978 to more successful League rivals Aston Villa.

Aston Villa

The team coached by Ron Saunders finished the season in eighth place in the standings and could even increase to a place that placement in the season 1979 /80. The greatest success to date, however, the team celebrated in the Football League First Division 1980/81, as Kenny Swain surprisingly won the title in the English championship with his teammates Tony Morley, Jimmy Rimmer and Peter Withe. An increase experienced this success the following season, when Villa under new coach Tony Barton to win the European Champion Clubs' Cup 1981/82 through the Golden Gate by Peter Withe against the German champions Bayern Munich. After this great success of the now 30 -year-old Swain joined in October 1982 to Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest

His new club had also operates very successfully in recent years. With the coaching duo of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor Forest had become 1977/78 English champion and had then secured two consecutive titles in the European Champions Cup. Since 2004, Kenny Swain coached the English U-16 national football team.
