Khaled Chehab

Emir Khaled Najib Chehab (Arabic خالد شهاب Khalid Najib Shihab, * 1892 in Hasbaya, Mutessariflik Lebanon, † 1978) was a politician of the United Lebanon and a former Lebanese prime minister.

He was under the French League of Nations Mandate for Syria and Lebanon several times minister and deputy. On November 22, 1935 Chehab was elected national parliament President of the Assembly, a position he held until June 5, 1937. Between 18 March and 24 November 1938, he was Prime Minister of the country.

After independence, President Camille Chamoun appointed on November 1, 1952 Chehab for Premier his first government. He left his position as head of government on 1 May 1953. He was also elected Sunni deputies of Hasbaya - Marjeyoun for 1960-1964.
