Kikowo, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Kikowo ( German Kieckow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is located in the powiat Białogardzki and is part of the gmina (Town ) Tychowo ( Tychowo ).

Geographical location

Kikowo located in Pomerania, 22 kilometers southeast of the county town Białogard ( Belgard ) on the border with powiat Szczecinecki. The eastern part of the village is crossed by the Liśnica ( Leitznitz ), to the west is a small ridge along the Parsęta ( Persante ) the local limit. Kikowo is on the road 167 ( Koszalin ( Koszalin ) - Ogartowo ( Jagertow ) - Tychowo ( Tychowo ) ) can be reached via the branch Krosinko (small Krössin ). Station is six kilometers away Tychowo on the railway line Szczecinek - Kolobrzeg.

History

The Pomeranian Kieckow, mentioned in documents as early as 1477, is an old manor village, which is closely connected with the name of the family von Kleist since the local foundation that owned the estate Kieckow until the end of World War II. Initially a farming village with several half and full peasant holdings, these were relocated to Tychowo and small Krössin so that Kieckow a pure estate village was. Kieckow was closely connected with small Krössin, since both goods were in the possession of the von Kleist.

In the 18th century there were at the Leitznitz still a water mill but was later replaced by a windmill.

About the Pomeranian room addition, it was announced in 1850 in Kieckow built "rescue home ", the IV was given the name "Elisabeth" Foundation after the wife of Friedrich Wilhelm. Recorded were orphaned and vulnerable boys aged between six and fourteen years of age. Until the end of 1926 here were 727 boys a new home.

In 1856 there were 18 houses in Kieckow. In the 1939 census 88 households were counted. The community area at that time was 1560 hectares. In addition to the well, there was some part-time positions.

By 1945 Kieckow belonged to the district of Zadtkow (now Polish: Sadkowo ) and for the civil registry district Tychowo. The local court was in Belgard. Last incumbents were Mayor Gerlach, Chief Administrator and Registrar Fiek Treichel.

In early March 1945, the Red Army troops after Kieckow. A previously broken refugee trek was after 40 kilometers sought and returned by the Soviet front. The last squire on Kieckow and small Krössin, Hans Jürgen von Kleist Retzow, was deported despite his active Nazi resistance activities of the Russians and released only in 1947 after two years of captivity back to Germany.

After Pomerania had been made by the Russian occupation under Polish administration took over Polish authorities of Tychowo ( Tychowo ) from the management of the former Kieckower good. The native German population was expelled from the city because of the so-called Bierut Decrees.

Kikowo is now part of Gmina Tychowo.

Church

Until 1821 Kieckow was as an independent parish, a daughter church of Tychowo (now Tychowo ). When the church congregation New Buckow ( Bukówko ) was incorporated into the parish, Kieckow remained only as a chapel community. In 1818 the old church was demolished due to disrepair. In 1848 the landlord Hans Hugo von Kleist Retzow built a new chapel: a brick building with fieldstone foundation, a small chancel and roof turret construction.

By 1945, the parish church of Tychowo to Belgard of the Church Province of Pomerania in the Protestant Church of the Old Prussian Union belonged. Last German pastor was Werner Braun.

Today Kikowo lies in the parish of Koszalin ( Koszalin ) of the Polish Protestant Church of the Augsburg ( Lutheran ) denomination. Parish seat is Białogard.
