Kilburn tube station

Kilburn is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Camden. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 on Shoot Up Hill, under a viaduct of the highway A5. The station served by the Jubilee Line station was used in 2011 of 7.52 million passengers. Approximately 200 meters to the south is the Brondesbury Railway Station London Overground on the North London Line.

The opening of the station took place on November 24, 1879 by the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line). At that time, was the name of the station Kilburn and Brondesbury. As of November 20, 1939 held here also trains the Bakerloo Line, which took over the traffic on the Stanmore branch route. However, the parallel transport lasted only a few months; to allow for acceleration and unbundling, the Metropolitan Line trains pass since December 7, 1940, this station without stopping. On September 25, 1950, the name of the station was changed in Kilburn. The newly opened Jubilee Line took over May 1, 1979 the traffic of the Bakerloo Line.
