Willesden Green tube station

Willesden Green is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Brent. It lies on the boundary of Travelcard Zones 2 and 3, at the Walm Lane. The station served by the Jubilee Line station was used in 2011, 7.81 million passengers.

The opening of the station took place on November 24, 1879 by the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line). Some months was here first terminus until the line was extended on 2 August 1880 in the direction of Harrow -on-the - Hill. As of November 20, 1939 held here also trains the Bakerloo Line, which took over the traffic on the Stanmore branch route. However, the parallel transport lasted only a few months; to allow for acceleration and unbundling, the Metropolitan Line trains pass since December 7, 1940, this station without stopping. On 1 May 1979, the newly opened Jubilee Line took over the traffic of the Bakerloo Line.

Although there are continuing platforms on the tracks of the Metropolitan Line, but these are not generally used and are shut off. Exception that the odd trains to the start and just before closing time. The station building is a historical monument since 2006 (Grade II); the exterior walls are clad in white faience marble, while the walls of the main hall consist of green Tessera mosaics.
