West Hampstead tube station

West Hampstead is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Camden. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 on West End Lane. The station served by the Jubilee Line station was used in 2011 of 8.23 ​​million passengers. In the immediate vicinity is West Hampstead Station, which is operated by the companies Thameslink and London Overground.

The opening of the station took place on June 30, 1879 by the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line). As of November 20, 1939 held here also trains the Bakerloo Line, which took over the traffic on the Stanmore branch route. However, the parallel transport lasted only a few months; to allow for acceleration and unbundling, the Metropolitan Line trains pass since December 7, 1940, this station without stopping. On 1 May 1979, the newly opened Jubilee Line took over the traffic of the Bakerloo Line.
