Kirchham, Austria

Kirchham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Gmunden Traun in the district with 1972 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gmunden.

Geography

Kirchham is situated at 470 m altitude in Traun quarter at the foot of the last foothills of the Alpine foothills at the gateway to the Salzkammergut. The expansion is 7.8 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.6 km. The total area is 28.6 km ². 39.5 % of the area is forested, 52.8 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Blazon: Split; right in silver two blue, symmetrical to each other extending shaft piles; left in the green west facade of a golden, Gothic church, in the middle front of the Gothic, divided by three transverse bands tower with black tent roof; the top floor of a black lace bow window, in the second a black, square dial, the first a black high rectangular windows on the ground floor and a porch with black roof and black portal. The municipality colors are green and yellow.

The coat of arms granted in 1978 shows the front view of the old parish church, landmark and namesake of the place. The two wave poles symbolize both the municipal area by flowing rivers, the exterior and interior ( or drought ) Laudach.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. Since 1918 the area has been acknowledged now officially known as the province of Upper Austria.
