Roitham

Roitham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Gmunden Traun in the district with 1975 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gmunden.

Geography

Roitham is located on 424 m altitude in Traun quarter. The expansion is 6.5 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.2 km. The total area is 21 km ². 20.5% of the area is forested, 69.5 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Blazon: From red and green humiliated, divided by a silver, broken with a right step bars; above under the silver, continuous Traunfall bridge a silver Kaplan water turbine, down a golden shell. Municipality Colors: Green - white-green.

The coat of arms was granted in 1985. Under the bridge Traunfall turbine stage and the power plant and the Traunfall symbolize itself Mussel as an attribute of Saint James the Elder. stands for the parish patron.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. The Roman Catholic parish church was built in 1350 in late gothic style. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times.
