Kirimäe ( German Kirrimäggi ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Taebla ( Taebla vald ) in Lääne in Estonia.

Population and location

The village has 117 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). Its area is 16.8 square kilometers.

The village than twelve kilometers south-east of the district capital of Haapsalu.

Archeology

1923 were found during construction work on the hill by Kabelimägi the remains of a cremation from the 6th century AD. In total, there are over 170 artifacts of high archaeological value.

The fact that the settlement dates back to a long history proves also the chance discovery of a small stone ax in 1999. Their age is estimated to be 3500 years.

The historic estate of Kirimäe was first mentioned in documents in 1569.

End of the 19th century was the single storey manor house, with its high roof. It was considerably remodeled during the 20th century for the purpose of a collective farm.
