Action

Leslie McCloud is elected the first female president of the United States. Her husband Thad are reluctant to his business career. Leslie's duties leave her little time left for husband and children. Son Peter and daughter Gloria to be a problem instances. Peter terrorizing his classmates and the principal Osgood, Gloria pulls with an inappropriate admirers around the houses. The boorish behavior of the Latin American dictator Valdez who wants to seek during his state visit to Washington by foreign aid, makes headlines. Leslie's political opponents, particularly Senator Walsh, scenting the morning air.

Doris Reid, an old friend of Thad, noted the distance between Thad and his wife. She begins to flirt with Thad, but he can evade it again and again. Thad is called by Senator Walsh in front of a commission. There he is questioned by Walsh, to get with the intention of damaging information about Leslie. But Thad turns the tables and the Commission shows the true face of scheming senator.

Leslie is revised and Thad feels discriminated. But their marital problems dissolve, as Leslie is pregnant and to resign as president.

Reviews

The lexicon of the International film wrote that the film is a worthy comedy that makes slapstick and dialogue punchlines for harmless entertainment.

Bosley Crowther of The New York Times concluded that director Bernhardt obviously had an idea how the prospect of a female president would be. It would not be funny. And that is what the film is informative.

Background

The film premiered on August 21, 1964 in New York 's premiere. In Germany he first came on 18 June 1965 in the cinemas.

The film premiered less than a year after the fatal assassination of President John F. Kennedy, was not a success at the box office. He was also the last film directed by Bernhardt.
