Köditz

Köditz is a community in the Upper Franconian district court and is located in the Bavarian Vogtland about five kilometers northwest of the county town yard on the main road 173 The municipality is part of the Franconian Forest nature park.

History

The first mention of Köditz dates from the year 1359 with the sale of a farm to a Knight of White Sindelsdorf. More fiefs belonged to the of Lüchau, Wildenstein and the Poor Clare Monastery courtyard. The place was increasingly in the stress field of the reeves of Weida and Gera and the viscount of Nuremberg, together with the respective followers. 1402 was the place in the confrontation between the bailiffs and Burggraf Johann III. destroyed. The current coat of arms recalls the family of Falkenstein. The former Office of the Principality of Bayreuth belonged from 1500 to the Frankish Empire circle and fell in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came to Bavaria in 1810. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, the formerly independent communities of Fountain valley, Joditz and Schlegel were incorporated.

Spin-offs

On 1 July 1976 parts of the territory were ceded with less than 50 inhabitants of the city Selbitz.

Population Development

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 2411, 1987 2209 and 2000 2814 counted inhabitants in the year.

Policy

First Mayor Matthias Beyer (CDU Association ). He was the successor to Werner Haas (CDU Association ) in 2002.

The council has 14 members:

  • Free electoral association 8 seats ( including the third mayor )
  • CSU 5 seats ( including the deputy mayor )
  • SPD 1 seat

Köditz has a connection to the railway yard Bad Steben.

Culture and sights

Attractions

  • Art historically notable is the Leonhard Church, a small fortified church with a defensive wall, brückenartigem transition and roof skylights in the center of the core site. The church is dominant formative view of the core site. An art historical rarity is the Baroque baptismal church, the end of the 1970s hangs in a church building was fully restored on the ceiling and can be lowered on the occasion of baptisms.

Auensee

In the district Joditz is the Auensee. Around the lake with good bathing possibilities there are large lawns. Directly on the lake is a campsite with restaurant.
