The KONE Oyj is a Finnish company listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange industrial companies as well as the fourth largest elevator and escalator equipment producer in the world with headquarters in Espoo.

History

The company Kone was founded on 27 October 1910 as a joint stock company. The name originates from the Finnish Kone and is translated by machine.

1970 was the first company outside of Scandinavia, Ing Stefan Sowitsch & Co. KG, founded in 1914 Kone joined the group. By 1999, incorporated in the consolidated affiliated company changed its name only when Sowitsch Aktiengesellschaft, later as Kone Sowitsch AG.
