Körfez FK is a Turkish football club from the city of Kocaeli province. Their home games discharged from the Green-Black - Red in Alparslan Türkeş Stadium.

History

The club was founded in 1995 under the name Körfez Belediyespor as a team of staff of the city government (hence the name part Belediyespor to German as sports club of the city administration, the name part Körfez refers to the bay to Turkish körfez, from İzmit ) founded Kocaelis. The club was in the 2000s on into the third TFF Lig and also managed to temporarily move up to the second TFF Lig

To escape the image of a group association, the association was renamed in the summer of 2010 in Körfezspor.

The club had long been the function of the second team Kocaelispor. After Kocaelispor descent due to financial difficulties of the Süper Lig until the third TFF Lig, they tried to build Körfezspor the first team of the city. So it was decided in the summer of 2011, the name in Kocaeli Futbol Kulübü (short: Kocaeli FK ) to amend and the club colors in green, black and so to clarify the status of the successor association Kocaelispor. Also, all players Kocaelispor changed for the new season to Körfezspor. The proposed name, the new logo and the new club colors were not accepted by the Turkish football association. So it was agreed with the Football Association on the name Körfez Futbol Kulübü and the club colors of green - black-red.
