Košariská

Košariská (Hungarian Kosaras ) is a municipality in western Slovakia.

Location and General Description

The name of the village was first mentioned in 1263 and it is divided into Dolné Košariská in the west and Horne Košariská further east.

The municipality is located in the hill country between the Little Carpathians in the south and the White Carpathians in the north. Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located about 30 kilometers east of the community, Myjava about 10 kilometers north, Senica about 20 kilometers to the west.

Until 1927 the town was a part of the western city of Brezová pod Bradlom, then combined to 1957 with the place Priepasné As in the community association with Brezová to double place Košariská - Priepasné.

The most famous son of the town is the 1880 -born Milan Rastislav Stefanik here.

In the village there is a church of 1878 as well as a museum of the Slovak politicians Stefanik.
