Köselitz since 1 January 2009, a district of the city Coswig (Anhalt) in Wittenberg district in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

Surrounded by woods in the High Köselitz Flaming lies between Coswig (Anhalt ) and the Brandenburg Wiesenburg / Mark. North of Köselitz springs the Rossel, a small tributary of the Elbe. The terrain relief reaches 153 meters above sea level near Köselitz. NN.

History

The place name is of Slavic origin and is derived from koza or Kozol ( "goat", " goat "). Originally settled by the Sorbs former Rundling Köselitz appeared in 1265 in a deed of the Marienkirche Coswig on. The stone church of the town also dates from this period.

On 1 July 2007, the formerly independent municipality Köselitz was incorporated in the district of Wittenberg as a result of the district reform of the former district of Anhalt -Zerbst.

Coat of arms
