Kostas Katsouranis

Konstantinos " Kostas " Katsouranis (Greek Κωνσταντίνος " Κώστας " Κατσουράνης, born June 21, 1979 in Patras ) is a Greek football player.

Career

Katsouranis began his career at Panachaiki, where he was appointed in 1996 from the U- 19 in the first team. In 2002 he moved to AEK Athens. In the same year Katsouranis participated in Switzerland at the U -21 Championship. After three operations, he retired with his team out in the first round.

After previously lined Offered by among others Werder Bremen and Borussia Moenchengladbach in 2006, he joined AEK to Portugal to Benfica. In 2008 he took part in the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

For the 2009/2010 season Katsouranis returned to Greece for Panathinaikos, where he won the league and cup double in the first time. In early October 2012, he was suspended because of disagreements with coach Jesualdo Ferreira Panathinaikos. The termination of the contract took place on 6 November of the same year.

National

In 2004 he was called up to the squad for the Greek national team EURO in Portugal. In the first match he was substituted at half-time and on all remaining matches it belonged to the starting XI. In the match against Spain, he saw the yellow card. In the final, he sat down with his team against Portugal and was able to celebrate with his compatriots the title. A year later, he took part in Germany at the Confederations Cup.

On 15 October 2012, he graduated from Slovenia within the qualification for the 2014 World Cup his 100th game. Katsouranis was so after Zagorakis, Basinas, and Karagounis, the fourth Greek player to have managed this.
