Koulpélogo Province

Koulpélogo is a province in the administrative region of Centre- Est in the West African nation of Burkina Faso. Capital is Ouargaye.

The name comes from the province by flowing river of the same name and means " river with white water."

Koulpélogo located in the southeast of the country, bordered to the north and east by the provinces Gourmand and Kompienga the Est region. In the south, bordering the state Koulpélogo Togo, to the west by the province Boulgou.

The relief of needs in Sudan landscape is mostly flat with some gentle ups. Laterite are prevalent with the typical vegetation of the dry savannas. The temporary watercourses flow to the Nihao and the Koulpélogo. There are small reservoirs that collect the rainfall of the rainy season.

The tropical climate of alternating wet Sudan is characterized by the alternation of dry and rainy season, which lasts from May to September.

Of the 259 395 ( 2006 census ) inhabitants, 45% of members of the Mossi, Fulani 9% and 8 % Bissa. More than half of the residents are Muslims, followed indigenous religions and Christians.

In 1996 the province was composed of departments of the provinces Boulgou and Gourmand. It comprises roughly the person designated by the Mossi as Yanga area whose residents Yana call and speak a dialect of Moré.

Koulpélogo includes the departments of Comin - Yanga, Dourtenga, Lalgaye, Ouargaye, Sanga, Soudougui, Yargatenga and Yonde.

A dirt road leads from the west from Tenkodogo to the southeast to the border with Togo. In Ouargaye is a transmitter of the RTB.

Residents Koulpélogos live mainly from agriculture. In particular, the cultivation of millet is significant.
