Kráľová nad Váhom

Kráľová nad Váhom ( until the 19th century Slovak " Kráľová "; Waagkönigsdorf German, Hungarian Vágkirályfa - to 1873 Vágkirályfalu ) a municipality in Okres Šaľa within the Nitriansky is kraj in Slovakia with about 1,700 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowlands along the lower reaches of the longest Slovak river Vah, on the right bank. Above the village, the river is stowed in Kráľová reservoir. Kráľová nad Váhom is located three kilometers from Šaľa and 60 kilometers from the capital Bratislava.

History

The village was mentioned for the first time in a document from the year 1002 as Terra Wag, but this was a name given to more writing area. Mistakenly, the mention in the Zoborská documents from the year 1113 as Crali associated with the location, but refers to the place Horná Kráľová. 1252, however, mentions a Eclessia in honorem betae Elisabeth, so the parish of St. Elizabeth in place.

During the Turkish wars the place was indeed in the unoccupied part of Hungary, but was repeatedly affected. In addition to agriculture and mill operation was present; 1715 are occupied at the Waag three mills. 1888 began with the construction of dikes along the Waag, the repeatedly flooded the place in the past.

Until 1919 the town was the county Neutra within the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938 to 1945 he was a result of the First Vienna Award again to Hungary.
