Krasiejów

Krasiejów ( German: Krasiejów or Crascheow ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Krasiejów located in the municipality Ozimek ( Malapane ) in the powiat Opolski in Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Krasiejów is located three kilometers east of the parish seat Ozimek ( Malapane ) and 23 kilometers east of the county town of Opole and voivodship.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1292 as " Crasseow ". 1860 Krasiejów had an ironworks and a gun factory and had 1,083 inhabitants. 1896, the monastery was built. 1910, the foundation stone for the new neo-baroque church was laid, which was built from 1911 to 1913.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 452 voters voted to remain in Germany and 433 for Poland .. Krasiejów remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1,675 residents in the town. On August 10, 1936, the city was renamed in Schönhorst. 1939, the place had 1,864 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Krasiejów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. Since the 1970s to build at Krasiejów in an open pit for the cement factory in Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) from. Since 1993 is introduced into the created by the open pit clay mine by paleontological digs. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Opolski.

In 2005, the Paleontological Museum was opened in Krasiejów. 2006 was followed by the opening of the Palaeontological Pavilion, Museum of Palaeontology at the excavation site. To date, thousands of skeletons of freshwater and terrestrial vertebrates have been discovered from the Mesozoic in the clay deposits. The site and the area around the pavilion to be developed into a tourist attraction. This revamped under the name " Dino Park " area opened as part of the " Jurassic Park Krasiejów " on 1 June 2010.
