Krathum Baen District

Amphoe Krathum Baen ( Thai: อำเภอ กระทุ่มแบน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northern part of the province of Samut Sakhon. The Samut Sakhon province is located in central Thailand on the northern shore of the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Neighbouring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Sam Phran of Nakhon Pathom, the Khet Nong Khaem and Bang Bon Bangkok Amphoe Mueang Samut Sakhon and and Ban Phaeo Samut Sakhon Province.

The most important water resource is the Maenam Tha Chin ( Tha Chin River ) and the Khlong Phasi Charoen ( Phasi Charoen - channel).

Economy

  • In Tambon Khlong Maduea of the district, the Brother & Jan Kaffeerösterei is ( บริษัท บรา เด อ ร์ แอนด์ แจ น จำกัด ), the " Ia- Sae Coffee " ( กาแฟ เอี๊ ยะ แซ ) produces the in Thailand awarded with five OTOP stars. The coffee is grown in selected plantations in both North and South Thailand. The Ia- Sae- based parent company is a small Chinese cafe near the Thanon Yaowarat, which was founded in the early 19th century during the reign of King Prajadhipok (Rama VII ).

History

The area of present-day Krathum Baen was originally part of Amphoe Mueang Samut Sakhon. The county Krathum Baen was established in 1900. 1926 added the government Tambon Tha Mai, Bang Yang, Nong Kok Khai and Om Noi from the Amphoe Sam Phran of Nakhon Pathom added.

Management

Amphoe Krathum Baen is divided into ten municipalities ( tambon), which in turn in 76 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

In the district there is a large city ( thesaban Nakhon ):

  • Om Noi ( Thai: เทศบาล นคร อ้อม น้อย ) consists of the whole Tambon Om Noi.

There is also a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district:

  • Krathum Baen ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง กระทุ่มแบน ) consists of the whole tambon Talat Krathum Baen,

Furthermore, there is a small town ( thesaban tambon):

  • Suan Luang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สวนหลวง ) consists of the whole Tambon Suan Luang.

There are seven to " Tambon administrative organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
