Church of Krauchtal
Krauchtal is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. The municipality comprises the towns Krauchtal ( with hub and Dieterswald ) and Hettiswil ( with Grauenstein and Hängelen ).
Geography
The municipality is located in the pre-alpine area and opened the Emmental from the northern side. It is located almost exactly halfway between the cities of Bern and Burgdorf. The two towns Krauchtal and stroke are located in a narrow valley that runs in an east -west direction. In contrast Dieterswald is the height on a gently sloping plateau. Hettiswil is north with open views over the Bernese Mittelland facing up to the foot of the Jura in moderately hilly terrain.
Krauchtal bordered to the north Mötschwil, in the northeast of Burgdorf, on the east by Upper Castle, on the southeast by Lutzelfluh, to the south Vechigen, on the southwest by Bolligen, on the west by Bäriswil and to the northwest by Matt Stetten and Hindelbank.
Attractions
Immediately at the eastern edge of the village almost one hundred meter high vertical rock pinnacle Kreuzfluh rises on its tip sits a viewing pavilion. At the foot of the Lindenberg Ice Age glaciers had washed caves that were inhabited in the Stone Age. These are today the cave dwellings of Fluehüsli. On a rock pinnacle southwest of the village stands the castle Thornberg. The landmark of Hettiswil forms the Klosterglöcklein Lindenzytli.
History
The names of the towns appear as follows for the first time on: Krauchtal 1208 Hettiswil 1107 Hub and Dieterswald 1329 and Thornberg 1196 Krauchtal and Hettiswil were minted until the Reformation ( 1528) by the Charterhouse Thornberg and the Cluniac Priory Hettiswil. . The Thornberg castle served after the Reformation as the seat of the Bernese bailiff and now houses a cantonal prison.
Sports
Krauchtal has a women's basketball team, which plays in the NLA (as of 2010 ). In Krauchtal it also has a Hornusserverein ( National League A) and a floorball club with two active teams (3rd League / 5 league).
